What is actually confirmed
None of the five Bongo Cat projects advertises an official OBS plugin on its README or store page as of our last check. What is confirmed is simpler and honestly enough for most streams: the desktop pets are ordinary windows, and OBS captures ordinary windows.
The setup that works today
- Install a desktop pet from the download guide. The vladelaina pet is a good pick because its window can sit anywhere and it supports Live2D models, which look better on stream than the flat default.
- In OBS, add a Window Capture source and pick the pet's window.
- If your OBS version supports it, apply a chroma-key or crop filter to keep only the cat, so your desktop edges do not leak into the scene.
- Position it near your facecam for the classic "cat hits the drum every time I type" gag.
The same approach works for the Steam game's window, with one caveat: capturing a game window may need OBS's Game Capture mode instead of Window Capture.
What is pending
The community has built dedicated OBS plugin versions of the cat, and streamers clearly use them. What we have not verified is which plugin projects are current, maintained and trustworthy, so this page deliberately does not recommend one. When we can confirm a plugin's repository, license and maintenance status, this section gets rewritten with specifics.
A word of caution for streamers
Any third-party plugin injects itself into your streaming stack, so treat plugin installs with the same care as the apps on the safety page: official repository, public source, active maintenance, or it does not go on your streaming machine.
